About Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek

"Go on an adventurous journey to the mysterious hidden valley in one of the restricted areas in Nepal on our Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek 18 Days. Immerse into rich cultural heritage well-protected for centuries from the modern world and enjoy the unspoiled spectacular Himalayan scenery."

Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek is a teahouse trek that takes trekkers close to the eighth highest mountain in the world, Mt. Manaslu. The trek explores hidden corners of the Manaslu region and further progress towards the hidden valley called Tsum. The Tsum Valley Manaslu Circuit Trek is an off-beat venture that takes travelers far away into the heart of the western Himalayas.

*Fact: Manaslu region opened for international trekkers in 1995, and Tsum Valley began to welcome foreign travelers in 2008.

Leaving the famous and crowded trekking routes like Annapurna Circuit and Everest Base Camp behind, you will be joining a far more solitary trekking route, visited by a handful of travelers every year. The Manaslu Circuit Trek with Tsum Valley is a demanding trek but at the same time rewards with a once in a lifetime kind of experience.

The Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek Nepal ascends over 5,100 meters and crosses the Larkya La (pass) at 5,160 m. The Manaslu Tsum Valley Trekking route is packed with natural wonders from cascading waterfalls, rivers & streams to rocky cliffs, lush forests, terraced fields & beautiful villages. Furthermore, the trail crosses thrilling suspension bridges and is scattered with ancient mani walls, Chortens, & shrines.

Tsum Valley with the majestic backdrop of Shringi Himal (7,083m), Ganesh Himal (7,422 m), and Boudh ranges (6,672 m), still well protecting its culture, art, and practices. The locals here are mostly of Tibetan origin as the region is close to the Tibetan border. You get to meet with monks and nuns. And the visits to centuries-old artistic monasteries like Rachen Gumba (3,269 m), Mu Gumba (3,510 m), and Gumba Lungdang (3,200 m) are just so divine and make the journey even more culturally enriching.

Our Manaslu Tsum Valley Trekking itinerary lets you explore Milarepa's Cave. The trek offers surreal views of Mt. Hiunchuli (6,441 m), Ngadi Chuli (7,871 m), Mt. Kang Guru (6,981 m), Himlung Himal (7,126 m), Annapurna II (7,937 m), and Mt. Manaslu (8,163 m). Likewise, the trail is also abundant in flora and fauna. Overall, Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek is a perfect trekking package for true adventure hearts.

                                      Useful Information

Best time of the year to go on Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek

We recommend Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek for 18 days in spring (March to April) and autumn (October to November). There are no weather or climate limitations like in other seasons. The clear sky offers great views of the mountains.

                                      Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek difficulty

The Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek is a strenuous trek designed for travelers looking for a challenging venture in the Himalayas. The trekking route is rugged and off-beat with frequent steep sections. The trail demands strong physical fitness and previous trekking experience.

This trek also demands endurance and the ability to survive without modern comforts. The region is very remote, and the services are basic. Likewise, the increase in elevation every day will make the journey more exhausting and add altitude pressure on the body, which makes the trekkers vulnerable to altitude sickness.

The below information will give you deeper insight into the symptoms and prevention of altitude sickness:

                                      Symptoms of altitude sickness

                                      • Shortness of breath
                                      • Loss of appetite
                                      • Headache
                                      • Fatigue
                                      • Difficulty in sleeping

                                      Preventive measures

                                      • Rushing in the Himalayas will never give you a good result. Take time to let your body adjust to the altitude & soak in the tranquility.
                                      • There's a high chance that a hydrated body will not suffer from altitude sickness, so keep drinking plenty of water and other fluids.
                                      • Trek high and sleep low.
                                      • Do not ascent more than 500 meters a day.

                                      Electricity and Charging Facilities

The locals still depend on solar power. Therefore they charge a few extra bucks to let you charge your device. There's a charging station in every teahouse. You can save some money by carrying spare batteries or getting a solar charger.

                                      Sim Card and WiFi

You may get wifi service not free of cost in some of the tea houses at the lower elevation. As Manaslu and Tsum area is quite remote and secluded from the other cities in Nepal, the region does not have stable network connections, either its wifi or cellular data. Keep both options on hand and use whichever is available during the trek. We will help you get a Nepali sim with data.

                                      Luggage

Our Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek package provides a porter for every two members of the group. The heavy duffel bag with all the trekking essentials is carried by our porters. Each porter carries 18 to 20 kgs, and the weight is divided between the two trekkers. The hotels offer a free locker room, where you can store your extra luggage during the time of trekking.

                                      Child policy

Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek 18 days is not a moderate trek or explores a famous trekking route with many facilities. Trekking with a child in a Tsum valley might not be viable. Likewise, for underage trekkers, the trail may not be doable. If you are a minor or want to do this trek with your kid, let us know. We will see what we can do and provide you with the best option.

                                      Tipping to crew members

We left tipping up to the trekkers. Tipping is well appreciated in the travel & tour industry in Nepal. The travelers are free to tip whatever they like. We usually recommend the trekkers to tip in a group. That way, the per head amount comes low. For instance, USD 100 is a good number for the trek guide and USD 5 for the tour guide by each member of the group.

                                      Personal expenses

Some things like charging, internet, and hot showers are not offered free of cost by the tea houses along the Manaslu Tsum Valley Trekking route. Therefore, you'll need extra cash to use these services.

Our Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek package does not cover these miscellaneous services. So, make sure to carry extra money with you while trekking.

Also, shopping, tipping, international flights, and travel insurance are the responsibility of the trekkers and are not included in the package cost.

                                      Insurance, Rescue, Evacuation

Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek involves unseen risks because of the off-beat trails and high elevation. In case of emergency, we can use your travel insurance to offer you a quick rescue. Even though the chances of happening like this are low, we want to be prepared and backed. Therefore, we request our guests to get travel insurance with air evacuation and medical bill coverage.
