Have you ever imagined the coin? Its two sides are integral to each other right? The same is the case with Annapurna Circuit and Tilicho Lake. Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake is the best wild camping in the Himalayas. Moreover, the Annapurna circuit trek is popularly known as “The Annapurna Tilicho lake trek. The highest lake in the world-Tilicho (4,919m) collects the glacier melt of the Mt. Annapurna and Thorong-La pass, 5,416m. The lake has its own historical importance and significance. Annapurna circuit trek towards 4 km and 1 Km wide lake is really challenging and breathtaking.

In 2001, Hindu pilgrims from around the world began trekking towards the lake with a trust that it was a holy spot as mentioned in the Ramayan-a holy book of the Hindus. Afterward, Hindu people frequently choose the Annapurna circuit trek to visit once in life tenure. The trek was officially opened in 1980. And, now it has become one of the most enthusiastic trekking destinations around the globe.

Kangsar, Muktinath peak, Nilgiri, and Tilicho are some of the mountains surrounding the lake. The waterfall of Besisahar on the way towards Dharapani, the dangerous part of the world Thorong la pass, small and peaceful villages, tea houses and lodges, and forest areas are lovely. Exploring the diverse culture and lifestyle of people living in the area is a living museum. The varieties of people with different castes namely, Brahmin, Chhetri, Tibetan Sherpa, Thakali, Magar, Tamang, and Gurung reside around the area. They celebrate Dashain, Tihar, Lhosar, Buddha Jayanti, and many other festivals together with the feeling of brotherhood.

Annapurna circuit trek begins from Jagat, six hours drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar, and 2 hours to Jagat by jeep. We continue trekking towards Dharapani, Chame, and Manang, where we can see spectacular views of Gyaru village, and Ngawal village. From Manang, you can scrutinize the glorious views of Annapurna II (7,937m), III (7,555m), IV (7,525m), and Gangapurna (7,455m). The next day, we head to ThorongPhedi via Thorong La pass and then towards Muktinath. After visiting Muktinath temple, we trek to Kagbeni and to Jomsom. Finally, we catch a flight to Kathmandu from Jomsom or go by jeep towards Pokhara and then to Kathmandu.

Tilicho Lake itself is a wonderland

Heaven is Myth: Tilicho Lake is real. No aquatic organism has been recorded in the lake to date. As soon as you reach Tilicho Base Camp, the struggling legs begin to relax, the tired eyes stop blinking and the mouth remains open. It’s Tilicho Lake for you where your captures would be a sweet memory for adulthood.

Thorong La pass is the Highest and biggest  pass in the world

There’s a saying ‘A trekking is incomplete without frightening experience. Annapurna Circuit Trek is all about breathtaking, adventurous tasks. Thorong La Pass is the major one. Thorong La or Thorung La is a mountain pass of 5,416 meters altitude which you encounter on the Annapurna circuit trek. The pass connects the beautiful village of Manang with the Muktinath temple. Crossing the pass from east to west i.e. from Manang to Muktinath is easier and safe whereas from west to east cross is dangerous and takes a day.

Hindus and Buddhists' famous holy temple-Muktinath lies in Muktinath Valley at an elevation of 3,710m. The worship in the temple is conducted by Buddhists. Thousands of pilgrims go there offering a Prasad to the deity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to go the Annapurna Circuit trek in December and January?

Partially yes, but we don’t recommend you to do so. It’s because the cold climate of the Annapurna region troubles your trek. The scenario views are not as clear as expected.

What is our daily routine while trekking?

We wake up at 6-7 am early in the morning depending upon the itinerary. We will inform you the 1 day before about the exact time to wake up. After packing the bag, we leave the place before 8 am. Trek, capture photos and have lunch at noon. Then, we continue the trek and usually end at 4-5 pm.

Can I recharge the Camera battery along the trek?

Yes, in most of the places along the Annapurna Circuit trek you can charge the battery (the cost is 2-3 USD per hour).
