About Kathmandu Pokhara Mountain Bike

Ride dirty trails and take in great perspectives of the Himalayan ranges of Langtang and Annapurna ranges as we advance from the ancient Kathmandu Valley to lakeside Pokhara. Along the way we investigate the way of life and see the three kingdoms of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur before going to Gorkha. In this medieval town, we visit the historical castle of the previous kingdom of Gorkha and find out about Gurkha warriors. Our bicycle visit closes in Pokhara the base for trekkers on the Annapurna region. We camp on our course so we can ride through zones that are less frequented and untainted.

Riding from Kathmandu to Pokhara is an astounding experience that puts you on the rough terrain trail connecting two noteworthy urban areas in Nepal - Pokhara and Kathmandu. Your biking trip starts from Kathmandu with a short biking visit around the valley before beginning the exciting voyage. Pokhara is an astonishing spot in the shocking background of Mt. Annapurna and Manaslu range and well known for its tranquil lakes. The journey starts from this lovely place, under 30 miles of this ride is on the principle highway, rest of the adventure is following an assortment of wide pathways, old jeep trails and some specialized single tracks.

We advance crosswise over remote region that is from time to time frequented by westerners. Crossing the old town of Gorkha, we take the customary course that joins Kathmandu to other part of mid-western Nepal. After your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will do some sightseeing and trip-briefing. The evening can be spent exploring the tourist hub of Thamel, with numerous bars, shops and restaurants. Later in the hotel, we will brief you on trip details, safety and preparation for the adventure.

    On this day you will bike from Kathmandu to Nuwakot, heading north. As you pass the mystical Budhanilkantha and climb up Shivapuri National Park, you get glimpses of Mt. Ganesh, Mt. Langtang and Mt. Manaslu. At this point, we check our brakes and prepare for a 1,000 m descent until we arrive Likhu Khola. This 42 km long journey will take us to the ancient kingdom of Nuwakot. Explore the revered Taleju Temple and old palaces, as well as the rustic Nuwakot Palace in the evening.

      Ride from Nuwakot to Dhading Besi on a pleasurable and scenic trip. An ascent of 3 km on black-topped road from Nuwakot takes us to Raisingh, then on to Samari on a mild climb. Along the way, enjoy beautiful views of rivers and water falls. Vast terraced paddies passing and criss-crossing on a mix of tarmac and jeep tracks, we get to town of Dhading Besi, the district capital and main market of Dhading.

        Take an easy ride to Murali Vanjyang for about 54 km enjoying scenic views and rural lifestyle along the route and then to the town of Gorkha. This town is the birthplace of Prithivi Narayan Shah, the unifier of modern Nepal. King Shah’s strategically located Gorkha Durbar and history museums dedicated to the Gurkhas are the main attraction in this town.

          On this day you will take a ride from Gorkha Bazar to Sundar Bazar in a relatively easier cross-country ride. First ride through a banana plantation and then cross a suspension bridge to leave Gorkha entering into Lamjung district. As we reach Sundar Bazar, we can clearly see Mt. Machhapuchhre, the top shaped like the tail of a fish. The town of Sundar Bazar is composed of people of various races and castes, presenting an interesting mix of communities.

            Today is the final stretch of our ride with some climbs and drops. We continue on the mix of dirt tracks and jeep tracks for a little more than 60 km before reaching the scenic lake town of Pokhara. With a spectacular backdrop of Mt. Fishtail, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, Pokhara is popular for its peaceful ambience and relaxation. You can spend the time along in the lake or just have a pleasant time reflecting on your thrilling adventure. In the evening, loosen up your muscles and relax with an hour-long full body massage.

              Take a day of rest in Pokhara. You can spend the day exploring the picturesque Pokhara by visiting the island temple, Lake Begnas, Seti River Gorge and Gupteshwar Cave. Peace Pagoda, a spectacular drive with amazing views of Pokhara valley below and the mountain ranges, is not to be missed here.

                 In the morning, fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu. In the afternoon, do some sightseeing in Kathmandu around UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Plus, you can engage in shopping in the evening before joining in a typical Nepalese dinner in the evening and wonder why holidays always have an end date.
