Generally, there is four-season in Nepal, Autumn, spring, summer, and winter. Among these four seasons, winter is ideal for trekking in Nepal. Most travelers from different parts of the world may get confused on the topic that which period of time is the best to trek in Nepal. Undoubtedly, the winter season is the best season for trekking in Nepal due to favorable weather factors. The Winter season falls under the month from September to December. September, October, November, and December these four months are trekking and peak climbing seasons in Neal. During these months the views of hills and mountains are glittering to watch. The weather is really good as there is no chance of rainfall and trekking can be completed successfully. Winter trek in Nepal has its own charm and attraction.

One of the most recommended trekking destinations in Nepal during the winter season is the Manaslu circuit trek. The Winter season is the ideal season to experience the beauty of the Manaslu region. Manaslu is the 8th highest peak in the world which is located at an elevation of 8156 meters. Thus untouched trekking trail of Manaslu offers splendid views of panoramic peaks like Manaslu itself, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and many other small peaks. Considered one of the best adventure trekking destinations in Nepal, this trek offers stunning landscapes and passes, beautiful alpine valleys, varieties of bio-diversity, and natural beauty. Likewise in 1998 Manaslu Conservation Area was declared by the government since then numerous species of flora and fauna can be explored on this trek. That’s why to explore this region a special permit is required which has to be issued by the government. The special itinerary is designed for those who are keen to explore the Himalayan adventure of the Manaslu region.

This newly opened trekking route has a lot of offers for the trekkers. During the winter season, this trekking route will be a bit more busy than usual. While trekking in the winter season in Manaslu, early September may occur few rainfalls but as rainfall stops bright sunshine will follow with crystal clear views. But after the end of September to late December, there are no chances of rainfall at all. Trekkers can find this trekking winter-worthy than their effort. Weather and climate in the Manaslu region 

The weather is really favorable while trekking in Manaslu during the winter season. The monsoon season is about to end in starting of September month. The skies are pretty clear in winter with bright sunshine which lets trekkers enjoy the best views of sparkling snowcapped peaks. Few rainfalls may occur in the month of September but it does not last long. Then, October temperature is at its best, it is very moderate. In November it is quite cold in higher elevation areas whereas in lower elevations it is very cool. But in December the temperature rises to the freezing zone in higher altitude areas.

How to get into the Manaslu region 

To trek to Manaslu, it may take 14-22 days which also depends on the season. In the winter season, there are no chances of rain so this trek may go according to the designed itinerary of 16-17 days. This Himalayan adventure trek to Manaslu begins fromSetiKhola. Then the Soti Khola trail is followed by MaccheKhola, Jagat, Deng, Namrung, and finally Manaslu base camp. While returning back the trail leads us via Larke La pass (5160 m) and ends in Tal. From Tal, trekkers will directly drive towards Kathmandu. During the trial, trekkers are rewarded with incredible views of peaks and natural beauty. The trail off beaten so, trekkers who want to explore remote trails then this trek is best for them.

People and culture and Manaslu Region

Manaslu is situated near the Tibetan border of the upper Himalayan region. So most of the people of this region follow the tradition and culture of the Tibetan people. Mainly two ethnic groups people have inhabited this region; Nubri and Tsum. Gurung is the main ethnic group that is settled in the central hill of this region. Almost all the ethnic groups of this region follow Buddhism and the region is dotted by old monasteries, mani walls, and small Chortens. They have their own unique lifestyle which is totally different from others.

Manaslu trek Difficulties

Manaslu trek is not that much difficult for regular trekkers or climbers. People may be wondering about the Manaslu Trekdifficulty but those who have previous trekking experience they may find this route easy. Inexperienced trekkers must be physically and mentally sound to trek this route. This is a physically demanding trek, so beginners may find it a bit difficult.

Trekking permit for Manaslu Region 

$ 10 per day per person if in case of more than 7 days. Most of the trekking permit cards are available in Kathmandu and Pokhara.US As Manaslu was established as Conservation Areas in 1998, this region was restricted by the government and government-issued permit cards which comes into play for trekking in the Manaslu region. Trekking permits are issued only for groups no individual can get a trekking permit. In the winter season September-November the permit card costs USD $ 70 per person per week.
