Imagine the mighty Himalayas of glacier basin lying slightly above your head. Man, that would be the best day of your life. Annapurna Base Camp trek is all about adventure, risk, joyous, and natural serenity. The Annapurna region is known as the “Best trekking spot of Nepal” was first opened for foreign trekkers in 1977. The very first trek started from the market town of Dhumre ending at Pokhara which took 23 days to complete. Later, the road construction around the trekking area took place and now you can complete the trek in 10-11 days. Besides this, Annapurna region came into popularity with Mustang trek, Naar-Pho valley, and Manaslu trek.
The number of trekkers to the Annapurna region is increasing yearly. Annapurna Base Camp trek is the common words spoken by every trekker to visit once in life tenure. The setting of Annapurna Base Camp at 4130m is unique and incredibly spectacular with some majestic peaks: Annapurna I (8091m), Machhapuchhre (6993m), and Hiunchuli (6441m). The rocky hills, sloppy roads, and the pleasant sounds of birds and animals make your trek breathtaking and adventurous.
The high cascading waterfalls, Gandruk museum, the deepest gorge-Kali Gandaki, Oak, Rhododendron and Bamboo forest, and Suspension bridge over the Modi Khola are some of the places that you encounter on the trail. Gurung, Thakali and the Manangba are the ethnic groups living in this area. They follow Buddhism and celebrate Buddha Jayanti. Lhosar is the major festival of Gurung society.
Uphill’s and downhill’s, sloppy and rocky lands can be spotted on the trail. The Annapurna Base Camp trek starts when you arrive in the bustling city of Kathmandu. It’s your choice whether you wish to relax or roam around Kathmandu valley or go for cycling. You may directly head towards Pokhara and do some zip lining, balloons flying or relax in the lakeside area. The journey will be exciting, scary, and thrilling.
0n the very first day of the trek we will drive to Nayapul which is 45Km far from Pokhara then we will start our trek. As soon as you arrive at Tikhedhunga 1577m, you can walk up the hill for 2 hours reaching Ulleri, 2020m. The total hike should take 2-3hours depending on the group. You will relax at Ulleri in the evening time. Make sure to keep well hydrated throughout the trek. The total distance for the first day is 1.8km from Tikhedhunga to Ulleri.
You will begin the day moving up the hill towards Ghorepani. We then head gradually uphill and after a couple of hours, we reach Nangethanti. After 2 hours of the trek from Nangethanti through the rainforest, you will reach at the lodge at Ghorepani, 2820m. From Ulleri to Ghorepani is 10.3km.
The third day we will wake up at 5:45 am and start walking long stairs to Poon hill at 4 am. This will take 1 hour- 1hour 15 minutes depending on how many breaks we take. You can enjoy sunrise views and snow-capped mountains. After spending half an hour at Poon Hill, we return back to Ghorepani and continue climbing through the forest of pines and rhododendron. The climb brings us to Deurali at 2960m. The distance up and down Poon hill is 2.9 km. The full distance is 11 km.
Early in the morning, we drop down 700m, and there are some leeches throughout this area. We will reach the bridge and go up the hill to Gurung village of Gurjung. After a short tea break at Gurjung, we will trek 3 hours reaching Chomrung at 2,140m. The trek is 5 hours long with a full distance of 11km.
It takes 5 and a half hour to trek from Chomrung to Dovan. The trail drops steeply downstairs to the ChomrungKhola. After crossing a suspension bridge, we will move towards Sinewa 2,340m. Then, we cross the bamboo forest and continue steeply downhill to the village of Dovan at 2,505m. Today’s distance is 11.2km.
Today is the longer trek day because it’s all the way to Machhapuchhre Base Camp. We trek to Deurali (3,230m) for lunch and then through the rhododendron forest on to Hinku cave. Further, we trek for 2:30 hours through the Annapurna valley towards Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,700m). The total distance is 13km.
Today is the exciting day because we hike to Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130m. From Machhapuchhre Base Camp, we head up the hill on an easier trail deep into Annapurna Sanctuary. The trek into Annapurna Base Camp is chilling. The views of mountains, waterfall, and beautiful flowers are simply remarkable. Today’s total distance is 2.9Km and takes 2 hours to reach Annapurna Base Camp from Machhapuchhre Base Camp.
Early in the morning, you can see the views of the sunrise over the Annapurna mountain range. In the noon time, you can see awesome views of glaciers. We trek to Bamboo at 2,300m from Annapurna Base Camp. The trail drops 1830m to the bank of Modi Khola to Bamboo. Today’s total distance is 13.5km.
Today is the hot springs day. Trekking from bamboo to JhinuDanda (1,740m) approximately takes 5 hours. We step down from Chhomrung to Jhinu and finally reach hot springs. We will walk around the edge of hot springs. The total distance is 11.7m and the distance up and down to the hot springs is 1.4 km.
It’s a final day of trekking. We will walk to our jeep pick up point Siwai for 2 hours. This is the shortest and relaxing walk of the entire trip. We will stay overnight in Pokhara before heading to Kathmandu. The walking distance is 4.3km.
Today as per your desire, we shall roam around Pokhara, go for Para-gliding and many more. We will return back to Kathmandu in the afternoon or evening time
