A visit to Nar Phu organized by Adventure white mountain offers an incredible opportunity to find out-of-the-way trails in western Nepal. The unexplored valleys of Nar and Phu are pristine and rural. The trail is exciting and has its with the more well known trails of Annapurna Circuit. This trek involves crossing through the high passes of Kang-La and Thorong-La. Towards the end of the trek, you will also come across Jomsom and the holy site of Muktinath.
The Nar Phu Trek starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Jagat. We will take after the famous trail of Annapurna Circuit until we reach Koto. From the village of Koto we advance towards lesser known towns of Meta, Phu and Nar. After a bit of acclimatization in these villages, we head towards the intersection at Kanga-La Pass from where we turn to Manang with exhilarating views of the incredible Annapurna range in the Himalayas. After bathing in the beauty of nature, we then take a trail at tracks back to Annapurna Circuit. As we leave the high regions of pastures, fields and pleasant towns, we will find local people who follow Tibetan-style culture and conventions. The path is again filled with astounding views of cascading snow-topped mountains. Soon we will cross Thorong-La pass, bringing us to the iconic Muktinath. From there we head to Jomsom and then fly back to Pokhara.
We invite you to trek this amazing region of Nar and Phu. The preferred season of this trek is from April to June and from September to November. You will need slightly above-average physical fitness especially during the crossing of high passes.
Welcome to Nepal. You will be guided to the hotel by our staff once you arrive at the airport. You will have the rest of the day to do whatever you wish to do: get some sleep, stroll around or party hard. Later, you will participate in a gathering of other trekkers and guides and also be handed over the equipment necessary for the trek.
You will be sightseeing around the world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley including, Kathmandu Darbar square and Swayambhunath Temple and other temples and monuments on the second day. Overnight stay at hotel.
On the 3rd day of itinerary we drive to Khudi (800m) along the Prithivi Highway. It takes 6 hours to reach Khudi. On that day you are staying at hotel.
Nar Phu Valley Trek continues when we start our trek to Bahundanda (1310m). The track first leads to the inhabitants of Gurung and Khudi at 790m. The trail offers nice scenic beauty of different ‘chuli’ like Himalchuli and Ngadi Chuli. The trekking trail like Bhulbhule, Ngadi and Lampata continues to reach or arrive at Bahundanda (1310m) Overnight stay at a tented camp.
Chamje (1430m) is famous for waterfall and is appreciated by the tourist and other natives too. It is a short day’s trek to Chamje from Bahundanda. Overnight stay at a tented camp.
On the 6th day of itinerary we will move to Dharapani (1920 m). For the trek to Dharapani we have to move from Chamje (1430m). It takes around 5 hours to reach Chamje. Overnight stay at a tented camp.
Trek to Koto (2600m) is our next destination for the trek. We need to move from Dharapani for Koto and we start in the morning with some delicious breakfast. On the way we can see varieties of vegetation and natural sceneries. Overnight stay at a tented camp.
Trek to Dharmasala from Koto takes about 6-7 hrs trek. You can enjoy the trek with an up-close experience with waterfalls on the way to Dharmashala. Overnight stay at a tented camp.
On the 9th day we will move to Kayang (3740m). The way to Kayang is even more adventurous as you will be walking on a rock face which is cut into sheer but comfortable and wide enough for any hiker. Kayang is a very beautiful place where you can enjoy the cool weather. Overnight at tented camp.
After 3-4 hrs walk from Kayang you can reach Phu village. At the beginning the entrance of the village is narrow but as soon as you enter the area it widens. Overnight at tented camp.
Phu Valley is on the edge of the hill. There are beautiful and well maintained houses in Phu Valley. A camping site by the river can be a place for staying overnight at tented camp.
Trek to Junam (3550m) is another special hike during the Narphu Valley Trek because it gives you the chance to witness the powerful yet serene Junam River as the trek traverse through the banks of this river where overnight tented camp can be fixed.
The next day we embark on our trek to Nar village (4150m) which normally takes around 5-6 hours. It is exciting because of the tight bends that lead toward the village with beautiful terraces. Overnight stay at a tented camp.
On the 14th day, we cross Kang-La Pass which is 2 and a half hours walk from Nar village. With a steep pathway, this hike can be more challenging. Then we reach Ngwal (3675m) where we stay overnight at a tented camp.
On the 15th day, we need to carry on the lower part for the trek to Manang (3550m). People who are living in this region are engaged in agriculture and rearing yaks. The trail continues from Mungii to the village known called Bryanga (3475m) then we are at Manang (3500m). Overnight at tented camp.
The next day, we continue to climb uphill and cross Marshyangdi Valley after few hours of trekking. Our trek trail takes us farther to the way of Jarsang Khola Valley before we reach Ledar located at 4250m. Overnight stay at a tented camp.
On the 17th day, we trek to Thorong High Camp which is situated at an altitude of 4800 meters. Thorong High Camp and the Pass located there are quite popular among the trekkers. Overnight stay at a tented camp.
We cross Thorong High Camp the next day and head towards Muktinath, the holy pilgrimage destination for Hindus. Muktinath also has plenty of Buddhist monasteries and it is quite remarkable that a pilgrimage site known primarily for Hindus also has many Buddhist Gompas. Overnight stay at a tented camp.
In about 3-4 hours, we reach to Kagbeni from Muktinath. This route is a scenic and less trafficked one, and is sunny most of the times. It descends from Muktinath via Jhong on the northern side of the valley. This place gives a hint of the Mustang kingdom as the houses are built in Mustang style. Overnight stay at a tented camp.
The trail to Jomsom follows alongside the Kali Gandaki River which forms the deepest ravine. While on this route you can enjoy on one side the Annapurna mountain range and on another Dhaulagiri mountain. These two ranges comprises of the views of 8 of the 20 highest mountains in the world. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.
On the 21st day, we return to the Pokhara via flight from Jomsom. The rest of the time can be spent in the beautiful city of Pokhara sightseeing around the lake city. Overnight stay at a hotel in Pokhara.
The next day we will be driving back to Kathmandu via the Prithvi Highway. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.
