The plummeting bike course from Muktinath to Pokhara will take you from the base of the mountains above 5,000 meters to the pleasant valley of Pokhara underneath 1,000 meters. The highlight of the trip are seeing panoramic views of the Annapurna mountains, seeing paddies and time-worn temples, seeing remote habitation and going through steep climbs and enjoyable downhills.
Respected by Hindus and Buddhists alike, the sanctuary of Muktinath is arranged in a woods high up in the mountains. A Buddhist cloister and a Bishnu sanctuary are found in the forested areas. Thamel is a tourist district that has numerous bars, shops and restaurants that provide you a taste of Nepali lifestyle. In the afternoon we will sort out our bikes and a tour briefing will be done over dinner.
You will leave the hotel at 6:30 AM and reach the bus station near Thamel. The 7-hour scenic drive to Pokhara leaves at around 7:30 AM with lunch en route. Pokhara is a valley known for its panoramic views of Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Fishtail and Mt. Dhaulagiri among others. Relax in the evening and go to bed early.
The distance you will cover today is 11.8km After an early flight to Jomsom, we assemble the bikes and ride the relatively flat river trail to Kagbeni and stay overnight at a guesthouse.
In the morning, we ride to uphill as we head towards Muktinath, the highest point of this trip. The landscape here looks like a desert and you might come across trekkers and pilgrims on their way to the holy temple of Muktinath. Reaching the temple of eternal flame with majestic mountain backdrop is an achievement in itself. Stay overnight at a guesthouse.
We begin our descent with beautiful views of Mt. Dhaulagiri and other eight thousanders. Along the way yak herds amid quiet villages. At the end of our ride today we reach Marpha, a scenic village known for its apples and of course the popular ‘Marpha’ apple cider. Stay overnight in a guesthouse.
In the beginning we will ride a fabulous downhill with a descent towards Tatopani. In Nepali language, tato pani means hot water, which is exactly what this place is - a natural hot spring. Here in the wilderness you can chill and relax your muscles in the hot water beside Kali Gandaki River.
Today we will descend further along Kali Gandaki river to reach Beni. From here we will ride along Baglung Highway and later take a trail to Sarangkot. Relax in the evening but go to bed early to catch a spectacular sunrise view from Sarangkot
After breakfast, check your brakes before beginning our ride along a narrow downhill trail to Pokhara. Being the gateway to the Annapurna region, Pokhara is swarming with trekkers hanging around the lakes of this beautiful valley. Relax the afternoon and evening at your leisure before dinner. Stay overnight in a hotel.
Start early from Pokhara on a bus drive to Kathmandu. Later in the evening, you are invited to join a Nepalese dinner with cultural show before returning to the hotel.
